Gentleness cultivates what the sword...

Hearts are not opened by violence, even if bodies yield to it. Rather, they are opened by a gentleness that touches them, a wisdom that perfects speech, and a patience resembling a doctor's patience with the pain of treatment.

How many a strong person knocked on a door and it was not opened, yet a gentle one came with a word, and the doors were opened for him.

"If a thousand fully armed men marched for a need, none would fulfill it except the one who acts gently."

For gentleness cultivates what the sword cannot, and unites what anger disperses.

And Allaah, the Exalted and Mighty, said to Musa and Haarun ( عليهما السلام ), as they were going to the most disbelieving and arrogant people on earth:

﴿فَقُولا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَيِّنًا لَعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَى﴾ [طه: 44]

But speak to him with gentle words, perhaps he may be reminded or fear. [Taha: 44]

Meaning: Address him with kindness and gentleness, despite him being the tyrannical Pharaoh, in the hope that he may be reminded of the truth or fear it. And this is the greatest evidence that gentleness is commanded even with the most hostile of people towards Allaah, so how much more so with the people of Islaam and virtue?!

And the Prophet ( صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) was the master of the gentle ones; he would not get angry for himself, nor would he respond to ill-treatment except with good.

Aaishah رضي الله عنها narrated: "A group of Jews entered upon the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ and said: 'As-Samu alaykum' (death be upon you). I understood it, so I said: 'And upon you be death and the curse!'" "Then the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: 'O Aaishah, indeed Allaah is Gentle and loves gentleness in all matters.'" "So I said: 'O Messenger of Allaah, did you not hear what they said?'" "He said: 'I (already) said: 'And upon you.'' (meaning, the evil they wished)." Al-Bukhari (6927) and Muslim (2592) transmitted it.

The Jews did not say "As-Salaam" (peace), but rather "As-Saam" (death), out of cunning and malice. So Aaishah was quick-witted and responded harshly. Then the Prophet ﷺ cautioned her that a believer should not be provoked, and that responding with gentleness is closer to piety, and that Allaah loves gentleness even in repelling harm, so how much more so in lesser matters?

Mr. Durov launched Telegram in late 2013 with his brother, Nikolai, just months before he was pushed out of VK, the Russian social-media platform he founded. Mr. Durov pitched his new app—funded with the proceeds from the VK sale—less as a business than as a way for people to send messages while avoiding government surveillance and censorship.

To pay the bills, Mr. Durov is issuing investors $1 billion to $1.5 billion of company debt, with the promise of discounted equity if the company eventually goes public, the people briefed on the plans said. He has also announced plans to start selling ads in public Telegram channels as soon as later this year, as well as offering other premium services for businesses and users.
